Winton Club of Winchester Announces Lianne Green as 2013 Cabaret Producer/Chairperson
The Winton Club of Winchester, a non-profit women's organization dedicated exclusively to supporting Winchester Hospital in service and fundraising activities, is pleased to announce Lianne Green as this year’s producer for the 92nd Winton Club cabaret “Myth, Magic & Mystery”.
A resident of Winchester since 1999, Lianne is an eleven-year member of the Winton Club. She has been employed as a department manager of administration at Winchester Hospital for 14 years. Former Winton Club president, Mary Gillespie, who served on the hospital board, convinced Lianne to take part in the cabaret. Lianne enjoyed her first cabaret so much she joined the Winton Club in 2001.
Born in Michigan, and after moving several times, Lianne’s family settled in Cambridge, Ohio. Lianne attended numerous universities and colleges including Ohio State University, UMass Boston, and Santa Monica College with some others in between before settling in the Boston area. Lianne recently completed her master’s degree in Hospital Administration from Simmons College.
Her love of dance began at age 10 when she started studying dance. Lianne’s performance background began in Cambridge, Ohio where she studied and performed with Vergari Dance Center East. After college she performed at Vergari Dance Center West in Los Angeles, CA and currently studies and performs with Jeannette Neil Dance Center in Boston. In addition to the annual cabaret, her theatre performances include Gypsy and West Side Story done at the Cambridge Community Theatre, The Wiz, and Once on This Island, performed with the Colonial Chorus Players of Reading, MA, the original debut production of The Big Time, performed at the Rogers Center, the 2010 performance of Voices of Hope at Symphony Hall, Boston, and the 2012 production, Dance + Song with the Jeannette Neil Dance Studio performed at the Tsai auditorium in Boston. Lianne won an EMACT Award (Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres) for her dancing in The Wiz.
At the hospital, Lianne learned about the various Winton Club contributions such as fundraising through the cabaret production as well as management of the hospital’s gift shop. “It’s remarkable that The Winton Club has given volunteer support to Winchester Hospital for over 101 years” says Lianne’s boss, hospital president Kevin Smith.
Lianne’s family and hospital colleagues appreciate and respect the time she invests in the cabaret performance every year. They are amazed that she’s taken on the role of producer for this important community tradition. Her husband Glen knows the joy it brings to the community, performers and the hospital each January even though he’s left at home with Scooter, their 10-year old Jack Russell Terrier. Lianne has thoroughly enjoyed performing in past cabarets, and is looking forward to an exciting time working with the many dedicated and talented volunteers.
Lianne’s creation of “Myth, Magic and Mystery” for Winton Club Cabaret 2013 brings together a wide variety of music from stage and screen to R&B classics, such as Masquerade and Superstitious along with contemporary favorites. This strong dance production plays with the fantasy, dream, and wonder of life, and will transport you on a fantastic voyage of song and dance. The professional artistic team includes the returning talents of Dana Siegel as artistic director, Steve Bergman as music director and Beth Kennedy as choreographic director.
All profits from “Myth, Magic and Mystery” help to support Winchester Hospital and their ongoing dedication to health and community. The cast of talented performers includes staff members from Winchester Hospital, performers from local community theater groups, local professional entertainers and a core of enthusiastic supporters of Winchester Hospital who spend all of January preparing for this fundraiser. In recent years, the Winton Club has raised more $3 million for Winchester Hospital and the Center for Cancer Care.
"Myth, Magic and Mystery" show dates are January 29 - February 2, 2013 at the Winchester Town Hall, 71 Mt. Vernon St. in Winchester, Mass. Auditions are December 3 & 4, 2012 at 7 PM at Winchester Town Hall Auditorium. Please join this talented cast with your magical talents! For more information visit http://cabaret.wintonclub.org
