Construction Worker Injured in Fall from Roof in Winchester

At 10:52 a.m. May 16, Winchester Police responded to Walnut Street for a report of a construction worker that fell roughly a dozen feet from a roof and sustained an head injury, according to a police report. Fire Engine 4 and paramedics were tending to the injured North Billerica man upon arrival, according to the report. The injured man briefly told police that he went to reposition himself while working on the roof and siding of the home to make a cut in an existing window, when he lost his balance on a portion of the raised roof, fell about 12 feet and landed on a stone patio, according to the report. The man, who reportedly sustained a head laceration, a bloody nose and experienced general pain to his lower extremities, was placed in in a cervical collar and secured to a backboard before being taken to Mass. General Hospital.

May 14

11:40 a.m.: Police called to the area of Philip Ciampa Salon for a report of a found passport on a sidewalk, according to a police report. The owner of the passport, a Woburn man, was not home when police attempted to return it, according to the log. A message was left at his home, the log adds.

May 15

6:09 p.m.: Police conducted a detail in the South Border Road and the Middlesex Fells Reservation area, according to a police log. A 33-year-old Somerville man and a 26-year-old Boston man were issued town by-law citations for trespassing for having their dogs in the town's water supply, according to the log. The report notes that there were "many walkers, bikers and people with loose dogs in the area" who were told to leave the posted areas and use marked trails only.

May 16

5:16 p.m.: Police called to Rangeley Road on a report of a motor vehicle accident, according to a report. A bicyclist who was reportedly traveling on the wrong side of the road struck the front end of a vehicle traveling south on Rangeley. The driver claimed he did not see the bicyclist until just before before contact was made with the bicyclist due to where the road curves in that area, according to the report. The bicyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike during the accident and sustained minor road rash to his lower back, according to the report. The bicyclist declined medical treatment, the report adds. 

7:34 p.m.: Police responded to Main Street for a report of a two-vehicle accident, according to a police report. No tows or transports were reported.

May 17

3:47 p.m.: Police responded to the intersection of Church and Fletcher Streets for a report of a two-vehicle accident, according to a police report. No tows or transports reported.
