Five Things to Do This Weekend

Holiday Fair: Muraco Elementary School Parents Association will host a Holiday Fair featuring artists and crafters displaying their talents, including jewelry, spa products, holiday gifts and household items. Muraco's fifth grade committee will also be hosting a bake sale and lunch café from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nutcracker: Be sure to Check out the Winchester Ballet Conservatory's presentation of the Tchaikovsky opus, The Nutcracker. The two-act play will be held in the High School Auditorium this Saturday at 1 p.m.

Miss Isil Avci, the Director at the Conservatory is looking forward to continuing this Winchester tradition for another year.

"It's part of the holidays and a Christmas tradition," Avci said. "It's also a special event, every year the kids look forward to what part they are going to get."

Tour the Flats: You can support the Ginn Playground Restoration Project during the Holiday in the Flat House Tour from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. You can tour the inside of four homes all within walking distance of each other. Each home will be decorated

Tickets are $20 and are available at Bookends, an Elegant Affair and www.beGINNagain.com to make a donation. Tickets will also be avilable on the day of the tour $25.

Kids' Concert: Winchester Community Music School presents the first in a series of three "Concerts for Kids!" on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2 pm at the NextDoor Theater.

This event features WCMS faculty members and friends performing music from Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite" along with narrator and costumed Nutcracker characters. 

General admission tickets are $5 each and children should be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available for purchase online or in person at Winchester Community Music School located at 407 Highland Avenue in Winchester.  The event is sponsored in part by the EnKa Society and RE/MAX Leading Edge.

This concert is a kid-friendly event focusing on music from classical composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. 

The story of the "The Nutcracker" will be narrated to accompany the music and costumed Nutcracker characters from Ballet Arts Centre will be available before and after the performance for photos with the children.  Copies of the Nutcracker story will be available for sale at the event, courtesy of BookEnds.

Seating at the Next Door Center for the Arts is limited.  Advance ticket purchases are strongly encouraged. 

The music will be performed by Yumi Okada and Nicole Casinghino, violins; Elisabeth Westner, viola; Nick Upton, cello; Cassie White, Terry D'Errico, Vanessa Mulvey, and Michelle Nover, flutes. 

Opera: Bel Canto Holiday Music Program will be held on Sunday Dec.5, 3:00 to5:00 at the Jenks Center. The Bel Canto Opera Company member Joanne Porakovaw will perform a program of holiday music from the medieval to the modern.

Refreshments will be served.

Tickets are $15 and are available at BookEnds and the Jenks Center.
