Letter to the Editor: Senator Jehlen Responds to Redistricting
Senator Pat Jehlen talks about possibly leaving half of Winchester behind if the new redistricting maps are accepted.
I was surprised and sad that the new redistricting proposal splits Winchester between two Senate districts. I love representing Winchester and have greatly enjoyed getting to know the community better over the past 6 years. I look forward to serving the entire community through the end of the term and, if I’m fortunate enough to be reelected to my current seat next term, I will remain a strong advocate on behalf of the entire town of Winchester in the future.
I have been so impressed with the level of civic engagement in Winchester, both in town government and in so many amazing community organizations. I look forward to continuing our work on the development of a flood mitigation plan that protects residents and businesses while also keeping the Aberjona a beautiful part of the town center. I will stay committed to improving public transportation, particularly the commuter rail stations while keeping downtown Winchester vibrant. I will keep working with residents and town officials to strengthen our public schools and town services. And I plan to continue joining in the many civic activities, from Veterans and Memorial Day celebrations, to League of Women Voters and Multi-Cultural Council meetings, to forums at the Jenks Center and many others.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the residents of Winchester for the past 6 years and look forward to continuing that service. If you would like to contact me about redistricting or any other issue you can always reach me at Patricia.Jehlen@masenate.gov or at (617) 722-1578.
