New Teen Theater Presents '13' Musical

The Next Door Theater, ND Teen, has tickets available for this weekend's performances of "13".

There’s a new teen theatre company in Winchester, and this weekend they will present their inaugural production. ND Teen (affiliated with the Next Door Theater) will be presenting the musical “13” by Jason Robert Brown today through Sunday at the Next Door Theater.

“13” follows the life of Evan Goldman, who has six weeks to go before he turns 13, and after an idyllic childhood in New York City, has just been uprooted and brought to Appleton, IN, with his mother. He has one mission: get all the cool kids in school to come to his Bar Mitzvah, or else spend the rest of his academic career banished to the land of the Geeks. "13" is a show about finding out who you are, finding out what you need, and finding out what's really important

With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, “13” is a hilarious, toe tapping teen musical about discovering that cool is where you find it, and sometimes where you least expect it.

The cast numbers 23 participants ranging in age from 13 to 16 and includes Winchester residents, Brendan Pulsifer in the leading role of Evan, Emma Kapp as Lucy and Thomas Mangan as Brett. Rounding out the Winchester cast members are Hope Johnson, Jonathan Santoro, Meghan Intravaia-Cronin, Mason Rich, Kristina Kurker, Christina Eng and Daniel Hayes.

Cast members from surrounding towns include Ryan Cook (Brookline), Kathryn Dee (Lexington), CJ Diorio (Wilmington), Sebastian Hoffman (Brookline), Rebecca Kelly-Bowditch (Bedford), Rebecca Lerman (Stoneham), Olivia Lombardo (Stoneham), Joanna Rosen (Marblehead), Michael Saracco (Melrose), Hayley Scanlon (Bedford), Emily Sheeran (Wakefield), Eleanor Tolley (Acton) and Natalie Tomeh (Bedford).

The production is directed by Maryann Zschau, who for five years had directed the Winton Club Cabaret shows each January, which benefit the Winchester Hospital.  She recently appeared on stage at the Next Door Theater as The Witch in Into the Woods.  Musical direction is by Matt McGrath, choreography by Caylin Campbell and Joe Mullin is the stage manager.

Friday night performances of “13”  are sold out, and Saturday's 8 p.m. musical only has a limited number of tickets left. But, tickets are available for the performances at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance online at www.nextdoortheater.org or at the door.
