Patch Picks: Volunteering in the Community
Leave your own nomination in the comment section below.
This week, Patch Picks decided to point out some of the hard workers in town that keep this community afloat. With Labor Day around the corner, we wanted to recognize those who have given a lot of service to the community.
The following list represents only a sample of those in town who exemplify the above specifications, so please feel free to add your own nominations in the comment section below.
Carl Boerner: An equal opportunity contributor, Boerner spends much time helping out with the Jenks Center and various other causes in town.
Charlie Price: With Boerner, Price is the Winchester Rotary Club 2011 “Person of the Year” co-recipient and can often be found helping out at the Winchester Cooperative Theatre, among other venues in the community.
Richard and Robert Salter: The Salters generously contribute the food items, as well as contribute other help, to the Town Day Barbecue each year.
Sonny Swymer: This veteran has led the Winchester Veteran’s Parade for over 30 years.
Marie Johnson: As the head of Winchester Hospital’s Volunteer Services, Johnson helps coordinate programs to help those less fortunate in town.
