After Stoneham shortstop Gia Raczkowski smacked a two-run homer over the right-field fence in the first inning, the Stoneham High School softball team looked poised for a win over Middlesex League rival Winchester High.
But, the Sachems had other plans in mind, as freshman pitcher, Rachel Smith settled down and picked up her first win of the season as the Sachems defeated the Spartans, 5-3.
Up next for the Sachems is a Monday morning game against Lexington at home at 10 a.m.
