PHOTOS: Winchester Honors Glen Doherty
Winchester residents showed their support for Glen Doherty, who was one of the four Americans killed in the Libya attacks on Sept. 11.

The Winchester community showed its support for one of its own today as people lined the streets from Costello Funeral Home to St. Eulalia's Church, where retired Navy SEAL Glen Doherty was honored by friends and family.
Residents were dressed in patriotic attire, waving flags and holding passionate signs as their hearts went out to the 42-year-old's family, who mourned their loss.
Doherty was killed on Sept. 11 while he was working for a private security company guarding U.S. Ambassador to Libya John Christopher Stevens, who was also killed along with two other Americans at the American consulate in Benghazi.
Winchester said goodbye to an American hero, son and loving friend today. Farewell, Glen.

Out of state from my beloved home town but my Mom made it to be present, honor and witness the service of our fellow citizen. No matter our politics, we cannot but admire the courage, resolve and service of this man who died far too young. It makes me proud to be an American and all the more so in these times.

A tragic loss--Glen was a true patriot and a hero. This was a moving and fitting tribute to this courageous man who gave his life to help others and protect his country. Our family thanks him for his service and sends sincere thoughts and prayers to his family in the aftermath of their heartbreaking loss.
