Police Log: Mistaken Identity and an Illegal Party
The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Wednesday, June 22, 11:37 a.m. – A Woburn resident and her two friends parked their unlocked car along Fells Road and attended a party in the Middlesex Reservation.
When they returned, their purses, cell phones and some cash were stolen. The officer took their report and informed the woman that entering the Fells at night is illegal.
3:54 p.m. – Winchester Police believed a Wilmington man driving along Washington Street fit the description of the suspect who attacked a 12-year-old girl earlier in the day.
The driver had an expired license. But he was not the suspect that attacked the girl a few hours earlier.
The man was given a citation for driving with an expired license.
10:16 p.m. – A Winchester resident has been trying to rent out her summer cottage on Cape Cod using Craigslist.
The woman received an email from a man who lived in London, saying that he would rent the cottage. The resident told him that it would cost $975 to rent and $250 for security.
The man told the woman that he sent the checks, but that it was for $5,000 and if she could mail him the difference. The woman declined and has not heard back since.
