My husband witnessed a car strike a pedestrian at the crosswalk behind McCall Middle School on January 18 just after 4 p.m. The pedestrian suffered head trauma. My husband and a doctor who was driving by assisted the pedestrian until the police came, and then an ambulance took the pedestrian to Mass General. The driver remained on the scene. Yet somehow, this event was never in any of the police logs. Why? Certainly less noteworthy events show up all the time.

Sadly, my 9yr old son also witnessed this accident. He still talks about it, and has looked for information on the crash to see if he can find out if the pedestrian was ok.
And thank you to your husband for helping. I hope we never need that sort of help, but glad to hear it is out there.

Sorry, I think it was Saturday January 19, not the 18th. I spoke with an officer who was parked at Stop'n'Shop about a week later and he told me that he thought the pedestrian was doing well because he said if he had passed away, he would have heard about it. He told me the victim was transported to Mass General and when I asked why nothing was in the paper, he said, "Oh, I'm pretty sure there was a blurb about it." But I've looked everywhere and there's nothing. Sorry, but that makes me kinda suspicious. The driver was a 50ish female, with a female passenger, in a Subaru. Why isn't this being reported? At the very least, I think it emphasizes how poorly identified our crosswalks are in this town. It is so easy to blow right through them, I've done it myself on more than one occasion, and I know better! We could do a better job of calling attention to our crosswalks. We should also report important news and file police reports, HELLO????? Sorry about your son, that is a lot to handle at his age. My husband had the typical PTSD symptoms: running the event over and over and over again in his head without being able to stop it. He also got blood all over him, and in this day and age we'd like to know who the victim was in case, God forbid, we have a health issue to deal with. This accident was very serious and traumatizing. Where are details? It's outrageous.
