Rock for Youth and a Night Off for Parents

Family-oriented events happening in and around Winchester this week.

 

From youth fundraisers to exotic journeys to free babysitting, we've got you covered for family fun all week long. 

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

•  Rock for Youth

Where/When:  Winchester Town Hall, Friday 7-11 p.m., Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

Why Go: Rock out to talented local bands and give back to a good cause.

Pricing:  $10. All proceeds benefit the WYC's Youth Service Award Scholarships

•  Bellyqueen, Journeys Along the Silk Road

Where/When:  The Regent Theatre, Arlington; Friday 8 p.m.

Why Go:  Learn about the rich cultural history of the Silk Road through a variety of dance performances.

Pricing:  $17 in advance, $20 day of show. For more information, check out the Regent’s website

•  St. Eulalia Midde School Drop-off Night

Where/When:  St. Eulalia Parish, Friday 7-10 p.m.

Why Go: Kids get snacks, games and a chance to hang out with friends. Parents get free babysitting and a night to themselves.

Pricing: Free, open to all.

Madrigal Fest 2011

Where/When: Winchester Town Hall, Saturday, 7:30-10 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy performances from Winchester’s talented student musicians.

Pricing:  $15 for adults; $8 for seniors and students.  There is a family rate available at the door of $40 (two parents with minor children).  Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at Bookends. Proceeds benefit Winchester High School Chamber Music programs.  

Independent Film Series

Where/When: Robbins Library, Arlington; Tuesday 7 p.m.

Why Go: Watch the documentary Hell on Wheels, which chronicles the rebirth of all-girl roller derby out of the Austin, Texas music and arts scene. Director Bob Ray will be available to speak after the film.

Pricing: Free, open to all.
