On Wednesday President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden unveiled a number of efforts aimed at curbing gun violence in the United States.
Massachusetts is home to some of the toughest gun control laws in the country, with local members of Congress urging the federal government do more to prevent tragedies like that in Newtown, Conn.
The state Executive Office of Public Safety and Security provided Patch with a summary of active firearms licenses in Winchester from 2008 through 2012. Here are the numbers for Winchester:

Only 3 machine guns in Winchester? I thought there would more. There are definitely more than 3 Tea Baggers here.

I would like to hear the rationale as to why someone (in Winchester ) feels the need for a machine gun???

And I would like to know why so many people feel the need to gather on Sundays to pay homage to a magic man in the sky but it is none of my business so I leave them alone.

I would like to hear your rationale as to why you need to offer your opinion...oh, wait..I guess it's your constitutional right. Nevermind.

There are two reasons to have a MA Class 3 license: training LEO and collecting. Self defense is not a valid reason in MA.
BTW - You are more likely to be hit by lightning repeatedly that to be murdered by a fully automatic weapon.

"Resident Class A Large Capacity License to Carry Firearms?" Does that mean the right to carry many guns at the same time?
By the way, I've always dream to have a "technical" (like the guys in Somalia) in my driveway. What Class would it fall under?

As usual, lets disparage all Winchester gun owners by lumping them in with the Tea Party. You people are pathetic.

To Old Townie: Yes, leave those who believe in God alone as you should--our country was founded on religious freedom--just as you are left alone to believe in nothing--or whatever you want. To the Patch: As for publishing this info. about gun licenses in our town, it does nothing to address the main issue that needs to be dealt with in these horrific tragedies, so why bother--unless you are just trying to stir up the pot in our community? It's about time that folks began a dialogue with legislators to address the serious disregard for mental health issues that plague our communities, our states, and our nation--a critical factor in all of these unconscionable incidents like the recent one at Sandy Hook School. Our state in particular needs to re-examine its laws to facilitate treatment for those who exhibit symptoms of mental illness BEFORE their condition deteriorates to a severe level where it becomes dangerous to themselves or others.

Shortly before the massacre in Connecticut, the state considered passing an involuntary outpatient treatment law which would have forcibly committed the murder at the school with mental health illness. However, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) protested and the law failed. His mother, the teachers and the children would have been alive today if the ACLU didn’t protest. Just like the Winchester Patch publishing the firearms information on its web paper, the ACLU knew the press would blame the NRA and the licenses firearm public.
By the way, According to Retired Colonel Dave Grossman and Gloria DeGaetano, who wrote the book “Stop Teaching our Kids to kill;” there have been over (5,000) five thousands studies showing a causal relationship that TV, movies, video games and media cause violence. This book was written in 1999 and the studies have been conducted since the early 1950’s— http://www.killology.com/new_media_vio.htm
The President and The Winchester Patch have left the above information out of the public decision. Was it because the president received millions of dollars from Hollywood for his presidential campaign and the 15 million tax break for Hollywood, when taxes increase for all the working people here at the first of the year, wasn’t enough? How much advertising or donations does Hollywood give to the Patch newspaper from advertising or grant money to pay for their silence; and publish firearm licenses information?
