Two Winchester Firefighters Honored For Service

Winchester firefighters Stephen Osbourne and Jeff Russo were the recipients of the September 11th Award during a ceremony held Jan. 10 at Woburn Memorial High School.

A pair of Winchester firefighters received the September 11th award from the Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone's office during a recent ceremony held at Woburn Memorial High School.

Winchester Lt. Stephen Osbourne and firefighter Jeff Russo received the September 11th award Jan. 10 in Woburn.

"The September 11th award is earned by first responders in Middlesex County who demonstrate extraordinary courage, bravery and/or selflessness in a way that is reminiscent of the men and women of law enforcement who were the first to respond on September 11, 2001," reads a press statement from Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone's office.

In 2011, Woburn Police Officer John "Jack" Maguire received the September 11th award after he was fatally shot in the line of duty after being the first responder to an armed robbery at a Kohl’s department store on Dec. 26, 2010, according to a Woburn Patch report.

Leone and Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley were in attendance, as were local and state politicians and Distict Attorney's office employees.
