VIDEO: Senator Scott Brown Visits Winchester
US Senator Scott Brown stopped by Book Ends to sign his autobiography, "Against All Odds."
Winchester residents filed into Book Ends on Sunday afternoon as U.S. Senator Scott Brown stopped by to sign his autobiography, "Against All Odds: My Life of Hardship, Fast Breaks, and Second Chances."
Residents lined up and waited for their chance to meet the Senator, shake his hand and offer some support, and at times, some advice.
“I try to support the independent bookstores,” said Brown, regarding his decision to visit Book Ends, one of only a handful of stops in Massachusetts the Senator made along his book tour. “This is a town I’ve known forever. I played basketball against the Sachems. I have a lot of friends that live here. It’s just a great chance to meet everyone.”
Brown also offered some advice on how local municipalities, including Winchester, can handle budget deficits. The town will be voting on a $1.44 million override on Tuesday, March 29.
“Everybody’s working hard at the local and state level,” Brown said. “Everything’s on the table in order to get out fiscal and financial house in order. We need to streamline and consolidate the fraud, waste and abuse people deal with on a daily basis.”
