Weekend Planner: Meet a Selectmen Candidate and Madrigal Fest

Check out these suggestions of what to do this weekend.

 

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. Every Thursday we’ll be giving you a few suggestions of things to do this weekend. And be sure to let us know of any other events in the area that you might be attending.

1. CAMPAIGN EVENT

Where/When: Mamadou's; Saturday, March 17, 10 a.m.

Why Go: Looking for the perfect way to jump-start your Saturday trip to the Transfer Station? Mamadou’s Artisan Bakery in Winchester, is hosting a bread tasting on Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, with Board of Selectman candidate Jennifer Wilson. Stop by this neighborhood bakery and sample complimentary handmade breads. Have a cup of coffee, taste some bread and chat with Jennifer about Winchester and the upcoming town election on March 27. 2. INTO THE WOODS

Where/when: NextDoor Theater, Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17, 8 p.m.

Why go: The plot of Into the Woods intertwines the stories of various familiar fairy tales with an original story of a childless Baker and his Wife who are attempting to reverse a curse on their family in order to have a child, thus creating a single even bigger fairy tale. In the first act, the characters set out to achieve their goal of living "Happily Ever After" through familiar routes only to have to deal with what happens after "Happily Ever After" in Act Two.

Pricing: $20. 

3. CROSSFIT TRAINING

Where/When: CrossFit; Saturday, March 17, 9 a.m.

Why Go: Instruction in CrossFit includes basic to advanced level classes in functional exercise, athletic and martial conditioning, plyometrics, kettlebell training, olympic weightlifting, medicine ball training, and basic gymnastics. Register for their free Saturday Group Intro Class by calling (617) 575-9348. Each class is limited to only six people.

Pricing: Free.

4. WINTER FARMERS MARKET

Where/when: Mahoney's, Saturday, March 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why go: Beginning Jan. 14 and running to March 17, Mahoney’s will be hosting an indoor farmers market at its Winchester location. The event, similar to the , will run every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m

Pricing: Depends on what you buy.

5.SPRING MADRIGAL FEST

Where/When: Winchester Town Hall; Saturday, March 17, 8 p.m.

Why Go: An evening of A Cappella choral music featuring the Winchester High School Chamber Singers, under the direction of Christopher Nickelson. Joined by the WHS Octets and other A Cappella groups from nearby towns. For more information: 781-413-5558, or www.winchesterhighschoolchoir.com

Pricing: Tickets at the door, Students/Seniors: $8; Adults:$15.
