Winchester High School Ranks 158th on Racial Diversity List

Winchester High School finished behind Community Academy in Roxbury and ahead of School for Exceptional Studies in Lawrence on the racial diversity list in Massachusetts, according to a study conducted by GoLocalWorcester.com.

 

Winchester High School ranked 158th on a racial diversity list for Massachusetts public high schools, according to a study conducted by GoLocalWorcester.com.

According to the study, the 1,089 students enrolled at Winchester High were:

  • 81.3 percent white
  • 11.7 percent Asian/Pacific Islander
  • 3.4 percent hispanic
  • 2.4 percent that were two or more races
  • 1.1 percent black
  • 0.2 percent American Indian/Alaskan

Winchester High, one of 363 public schools included in the study, finished behind Community Academy in Roxbury and ahead of the School for Exceptional Studies in Lawrence on the racial diversity list, according to the study.

Malden High is the most diverse school in the state, followed by Dorchester's Boston Latin Academy and Worcester's South High Community in second and third place, respectively, according to the study.

Schools were ranked based on their consistent distribution across all racial categories, using data obtained from the Institute for Education Science's National Center for Education Statistics.
