This Friday, the NextDoor Center for the Arts presents “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, a comic musical that centers around a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School.
Six adolescents, played by professional adult actors from the Boston area, compete in the Bee, run by three grown-ups. A unique aspect of the show is that four real audience members are invited on stage to compete in the spelling bee alongside the six young characters.
Winchester native Keil Coit will appear as "Leaf Coneybear" in the NextDoor Theater's production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" opening this Friday and running for three weekends.
The Winchester Foundation for Educational Excellence has arranged for the Superintendent and Principals of the Winchester Public Schools to be the “Guest Spellers” onstage on Thursday Oct. 13 and 20 at 7:30 p.m.
The NextDoor Theater Company will donate to WFEE 50 percent of the door as a donation to the Winchester Public Schools.
This Tony award-winning show is filled with adult themed comedy and plays Friday and Saturday October 7-8, 14-15 and 21-22 at 8 p.m.
An edited version, appropriate for all ages, will be presented at a Family Matinee of Sunday Oct. 16 at 2 p.m.
Reserved seating tickets are $20/adult, $15 senior/student and available at the door or in advance online at www.nextdoortheater.org
