Woburn Beats Winchester in Thanksgiving Football Game
108th meeting between the rivals goes to Woburn.
For the 108th time in history, the Woburn Tanners took on the Winchester Sachems on Thanksgiving Day. The traditional football game belonged to Woburn, as the Tanners won 32-14.
The Sachems dominated the first quarter, scoring twice for a 14-0 lead. But the second belonged to Woburn. The Tanners scored 20 points in the second quarter, ending the half at 20-14.
Woburn won the ball to start the second and continued to dominate.
WMHS player Pat Doherty grabbed a five-yard touchdown in the third, bringing the score to 26-14 (the two-point conversion failed).
The Tanners began to pull away in the late third, going into the fourth with the score remaining 26-14.
Woburn scored again in the fourth, 32-14 with 8:29 left in the game. Woburn held on, winning the game 32-14.

Game notes:
- The rivalry began in 1891. The record now stands at 52-44-12 (Winchester).
- Woburn also dominated last year, winning the game 56-0.
- Woburn now has a record of 3-8 for the 2012 season.
