It may not mean anything on the surface, one overly bearded duck hunter's backwards opinion, but when you delve deeper into the debate, out comes the underlying tide of bigotry and hatred, couched in "belief". He quotes a Bible verse, so that makes it OK to compare someone's homosexuality to bestiality, dragging out the old tired chestnut that homosexuality goes hand in hand with promiscuity. Ultimately it is the TV network's decision to dodge the bullet of public outcry by taking the path they took, and that is certainly THEIR right.
Robertson's supporters, both in the discussion areas and on Facebook support him in his right to espouse the views of his faith. It's my right, no, my OBLIGATION to call bigotry as it is.

When a Christian calls homosexuality akin to bestiality or pedophilia, that's not Christianity any more. That's hatred.

When a Hasidic Jew prevents his wife from having the most basic rights of self determination, it's not Judaism anymore. Now it's oppression.

When a Muslim Mufti issues a fatwā death sentence against a person because of their perceived infidelity, it's no longer an act of faith; it then becomes an act of violence.

It is time for us to draw back the curtain of religious tolerance and expose hatred, misogyny and bigotry for what they are.
