Guess Who's Back from College?

The kids are home from college, with all their "stuff". What to do with it?

Okay, so it's nice to have the kids home from college, did miss them. There's life back in the house, especially at 3 a.m., you can hear them having another go round in the kitchen. It's all good, except for the stuff. I really don't think we had more than a couple of milk crates, a stereo with a few albums and a suitcase when we went to college.

My boys had two car loads each coming home. There is the mini fridge, the microwave, the 3-foot tall fan that would cool a nuclear reactor, the bike, futon, lamps, three suitcases and at least 15 plus boxes. Being an organizer it should be easy for me to figure out what to do with it all now that it's in my house.

I have to say, it's a nightmare. I'm losing my mind. I have, thankfully, found some useful products for hiding the things that were  "must have" items when going to college.

First for bedding and towels, my new favorite space saving storage solution is the Space Bag Jumbo Stackable Tote.

You will fit four times the amount of bedding and towels in one of these than you will get into plastic bins. There is an under the bed version that is great, too. Both of these products will work fabulously for off season clothes.

For most of the other "stuff", I do recommend plastic bins. My favorite is the Sterilite 66 qt. found at Target. Clear bottom with a white lid without clips, the clips handles usually break. You can pack clothes, dishes, pot and pans and anything else you need to store into these containers. They stack nicely. They won't absorb odors and will keep the dust out.

I have almost finished washing all the bedding, towels and clothes, packed it up and it's going to the basement. It is good to have them home, aside from their night owl ways. Now if I could get them to put the dishes in the dishwasher... what's up with that?
