State Senate Democratic Primary Debate Rescheduled to February 12th

WAKEFIELD – Due to the February 5th snow storm, the Democratic primary debate for the Fifth Middlesex District State Senate seat previously held by Congresswoman Katherine Clark has been rescheduled to Wednesday, February 12th,, announced producer David Watts, Jr. this morning. The debate will be cablecast live on WCAT’s government channel from 9.00 pm – 10.30 pm. The Fifth Middlesex District encompasses Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and Precincts 1, 2, 3, and 8 in Winchester. Three Democratic candidates are on the ballot: State Rep. Christopher G. Fallon (of Malden), Anthony V. Guardia (of Wakefield), and State Rep. Jason M. Lewis (of Winchester). 

“I had been in contact with the three Democratic candidates in the two days before the storm to find an alternate date for the debate,” said Watts, “The new date seems to be the best one that still leaves time for re-cablecasting in all the communities in the district.”

The late time of the debate was necessitated due to previous campaign commitments earlier in the evening on the alternate date. The debate will be moderated by Wakefield Town Moderator, and WCAT Board of Directors member, Bill Carroll. A panel consisting of a press representative from a local news outlet in each community in the district will pose questions to the candidates on a range of subjects important to local voters.
