Winchester Got Lunch - Thank You Winchester Schools!!!
Winchester Got Lunch would like to thank the following schools, businesses and volunteers for their time, energy and commitment to the WGL 2014 School Food Drive. What a great success! With the help of those listed below, the Winchester Public Schools and Winchester-based preschools collected more than 2000 food items for our summer lunch program.
Winchester High School – 130 cans of tuna/chicken

McCall Middle School– 698 boxes of macaroni & cheese

Elementary Schools:
Ambrose – 140 cans of soup
Lincoln – 164 containers of Bisquick/pancake mix
Lynch – 400 boxes of pasta
Muraco – 108 boxes of rice
Vinson-Owen – 134 boxes of cereal bars
Pre-Schools:
Children's Own, Winchester Coop, Neighborhood Coop, Kid Connection, Crawford Memorial – 165 jars of jelly
Family Action Network (FAN) – 130 jars of pasta sauce
Winchester High School student, Sahil Shah, who led the collection efforts at Winchester High, along with volunteers Siven Li, Ross Kennedy, and Mirko Predny, who loaded all of the items from each school and then unloaded and counted them at the First Congregational Church.
Maura and Gene Fredey of Carole Kitchen & Bath Design, for the use of their truck and to Donny, our driver for the day.
Winchester Got Lunch provides nourishing lunches during the summer for students who typically rely on the federally subsidized school-year lunch program. WGL is partnering for the second summer with Whole Foods Market in Woburn, MA. Applications are still being accepted for summer 2014 and are available at winchestergotlunch.org.
