Winchester teacher leads students on academic exchange in China

Michael Gardner of Winchester, a Guidance Counselor at Boston College High School, recently led 12 BC High students to China to take part in BC High's 12th annual Beijing Summer Seminar.

The Beijing Seminar is a four-week academic exchange program offered by BC High in conjunction with High School Number 2 in Beijing, China.

While in China, the boys attended intensive daily language classes, as well as classes in history and Chinese culture .  They lived with host families to fully immerse themselves in everything the Chinese culture has to offer and they received academic credit for this experience.

The group also participated in excursions to the Forbidden City, the Great Wall of China and the ancient city of Xi'an.

BC High offers similar academic exchange programs in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Lyon, France and Dublin, Ireland.  As BC High continues to plan for the opening of the Lawrence H. Hyde '42 Center for Global Education, a new program in Tanzania will be offered in 2014.
