Marisol has been missing for more than two years from the Fells Reservation in Medford, but volunteers received a call on Christmas Eve telling them a dog who looks just like her was seen running around in a Winchester yard.
The recent sighting is in line with the area of other possible sightings and adjacent to the Fells.
A Winchester resident, who lives nearby Winchester Hospital, noticed a copper-colored dog in his backyard around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. He said he never saw the dog before and hadn't been aware of the massive two-year-long search for the missing Medford dog. He ran from window to window to see where the dog was headed, but when he got outside, the dog vanished.
Later in the day while running errands, he came upon one of the hundreds of fliers volunteers have posted for Marisol and called in the information.
Volunteers have a camera and feed station set in the area with hopes of getting a picture of Marisol soon.
Meanwhile, the Marisol volunteers are asking everyone in the area to keep an eye out for a 25 lb. copper-colored dog who some have confused with a fox.
Marisol sightings have come in from various locations in and surrounding the Fells in Stoneham, Medford and Winchester.
She may have found safe shelter in the Winchester neighborhood, but may also travel through the Fells. It is important not to call out or chase her if you see her as this will cause her to leave the area.
Please call Marisol's line, day or night, at 781-334-8364 as soon as you see her, noting the time, exact location and a description.Volunteers will come out immediately to rescue her.
