Flash Flood Watch In Effect Friday In Winchester

Find out when the National Weather Service's Flash Flood Watch is in effect until Friday night.

By Mark Ouellette

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Middlesex County, including Winchester, until 9 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service website.

“Widespread rain with embedded heavier showers and thunderstorms will impact the region into tonight,” reads the flood watch advisory. “Flash flooding will be a distinct possibility as some of the showers and storms may produce one-hour rainfall amounts in excess of one inch. Storm total rainfall amounts will average between one and three inches…with localized amounts reaching up to four inches.

“Areas prone to quickly rising water such as urban and poor drainage areas as well as fast rising small streams…may be vulnerable to flash flooding this afternoon and evening, especially if bands of heavy rainfall set up in those areas.”
