Armenian Tribute Choral Concert

On March 13 at 3 pm, the Arlington-Belmont Chorale and Arlington-Belmont Chorus will present a collection of traditional Armenian pieces in honor of Armenian-American composer (and Arlington native) Alan Hovhaness, born 100 years ago this year. The choruses will perform several pieces by Hovhaness as well as by other celebrated Armenian composers including Komitas Vardapet, Edgar Hovhanissian and others.  Pieces include “Mer Hayrenik” (Armenian National Anthem), “Aravod Loosaper” by Komitas and several other traditional songs, all sung in their native language. Additionally the Chamber Chorus will premiere a work commissioned by John Kramer.
