Rutter Requiem at the PArish of the Epiphany

Epiphany's Adult Choir and orchestra offer John Rutter’s
Requiem. This work, from the most prolific sacred
composer of the 20th century, has gained a large following
around the globe. The English composer used the usual
texts of the mass for the dead (Requiem, Kyrie, Sanctus,
Agnus Dei and Lux aeterna) and interspersed psalm
settings (psalm 23 and psalm 130). The orchestration for
this work calls for great contrasts—plaintive oboe,
threatening timpani, joyous glockenspiel, ascending flute—expressing the sorrow and hope of the Holy Week and Easter to come. Prayers will be taken from the Church of England’s Prayer Book.
