It's the weekend again and if you aren't watching the Kentucky Derby or celebrating Cinco de Mayo, we have a list of things going on around town.

 

1. Epiphany Rummage Sale

Where/When: At the , 70 Church St. at 4 p.m.

Why go: The Epiphany Rummage Sale returns this Spring with many great bargains! Find name brand clothing for all ages, sports equipment, dress up clothes, toys, games, housewares, home and holiday décor, antiques, collectibles and more.  The rummage sale is a biannual tradition that benefits numerous Epiphany charities.

2. The Cure Is Coming 5k and ALS Awareness Walk in Lexington

Where/When: May 5, at 10:00 a.m. at 1875 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington, MA.

Why go: Join us on Saturday May 5, 2012 for the 8th annual Cure Is Coming 5k and ALS Awareness Walk, featuring a four mile walk, a challenging 5k course, prizes and raffles, family entertainment and a lunch catered by local restaurants. All funds raised benefit ALS Therapy Development Institute (www.als.net).

3. Masters of Flight: Birds of Prey takes off at the Stone Zoo

Where/When: May 5, at 11 a.m. at 149 Pond St, Stoneham, MA.

Why go:The birds are back at Stone Zoo! Visitors will watch in awe when the wildly popular seasonal bird show returns on May 5. Masters of Flight: Birds of Prey features more than a dozen different bird species from around the world, including the bald eagle, bateleur eagle, Egyptian vulture, military macaw, spectacled owl and white-necked raven, in this engaging, memorable and educational experience for visitors of all ages. These birds will fly in from overhead and demonstrate natural behaviors including unique survival techniques and food foraging, as well as specialized physical adaptations. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to watch these acrobats of the sky!

4. Barnyard Babies

Where/When: May 6 at 10:00 a.m. at , Church Street & Waterfield Road

Why go: Come see our Barn Yard Babies. They are a menagerie of baby animals that travel for education and fun! If your child enjoys a petting zoo then this is for you! Approx. 20 baby animals  a diapered goat, a little potbellied pig, lots of baby bunnies, chicks or chickens, puppies and kittens. Come join us for a morning of fun!

Cost: Free!

 

5. Music MAYnia

Where/When: May 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the , 407 Highland Ave. 

Why go: Music MAYnia is an annual fund raiser to benefit the School's Financial Aid Program.  Held on the first Sunday in May, Music MAYnia is a free community festival that features live music performances, a traditional May Pole dance, arts & crafts, face painting, refreshments, and more.  Typically, over 175 performers of all ages and abilities perform a music marathon of live, continuous music ranging from classical to rock.  Throughout the event, over 600 community members attend the event.
