'Ask the Experts' Program Returns to Mahoney's Garden Center

More than 40 gardening experts will be at Mahoney's Garden Center to answer your questions from April 5-7.

With the weather warming and gardening season upon us, dozens of gardening experts will be available to answer your questions from April 5-7 at the second annual "Ask the Experts" event at Mahoney's Garden Center.

More than 40 gardening experts, designers and enthusiasts will be at Mahoney's to impart their knowledge with guests. Industry experts from a wide variety of products, including annual and perennial growers, organic fertilizers and pest control, will be attending the event, according to a Mahoney's press statement.

“To be perfectly honest there is a lot to know,” said Paul Waxman, director of marketing for Mahoney’s Garden Centers, in the statement. “Different plants need different amounts of light, food and water; lawn maintenance is a common source of confusion; and, soil condition and fertilizer can be the difference between a successful vegetable garden and a disappointment.”

According to Waxman, gardening can be easy once you have the right information. “Anyone can learn, and the more you know, the more fun gardening becomes. That's why we created this how-to weekend,” Waxman said the in the statement.

All eight Mahoney’s locations are open this weekend, but only Winchester will have the Ask the Expert event, reads the statement.

In an email to Winchester Patch, a spokesperson for Mahoney's, said that all the vendors are from New England. She added that the event has grown from last year's to this year's, as there will be several more vendors on-hand.

"The biggest difference from last year to this year is that we have more vendors this year," Roberts said. "Last year was quite successful so I believe more wanted to join in this year."

A complete list of exhibits, experts and hours can be found on the Mahoney's Garden Center website. A second Ask the Expert event will be held at the Mahoney’s location in East Falmouth on May 18, adds the statement.
