Shrove Tuesday: Pancake Supper
Our Lenten Journey begins on Fat Tuesday (aka Mardi Gras), February 21 when the staff and the Deacons will host a Pancake Supper. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and we will serve until 6:30. Fat Tuesday has its roots in the Medieval Church when the faithful would splurge before the forty-days of fasting and denial. The practice also comes from our Jewish roots. Before Passover, Jewish households would purge their homes of anything that had leaven or yeast in it to remind themselves that they only had time to make unleavened bread with them when they fled Egypt.
