Winchester residents Emily Ehl and Pam Balfanz are bringing an affordable luxury menswear line with a unique concierge-style shopping experience to the Winchester area. When Ehl and Balfanz were first introduced to the J. Hilburn line of menswear, which includes custom shirts, personalized suits, and ready-to-wear apparel made from fabrics sourced from world’s finest Italian and English mills, they were immediately impressed by the collection’s luxurious fabrics, craftsmanship, and quality.
Ehl and Balfanz were also intrigued by the unique shopping experience offered by J. Hilburn, which allows men to work with a personal consultant to select their social and professional wardrobe from the convenience of their home or office instead of on-line or at the mall. After researching the company and reviewing J. Hilburn’s expansive – and affordable – selection of products, there next decision was an easy one: to bring this trend-setting company to Winchester.
Although J. Hilburn is relatively new to the area, the Texas based company has been in business since 2007. Backed by venture capital firms, Battery Ventures and Bridgescale Partners, J. Hilburn recently made Inc. 5000’s list of the fastest-growing private companies in America for the second year in a row.
Part of the key to J. Hilburn’s success is its ability to compress the normal retail supply chain to enable it to deliver high quality custom fit clothing directly to the customer at a value that is impossible for traditional retailers to match. J. Hilburn has received many accolades from the industry, including being featured as the “Best Dress Shirt” in Esquire magazine’s Spring Style Awards Good Deals edition.
As part of their Winchester launch of J. Hilburn, Ehl and Balfanz are partnering with local business owners, Michelle Bistany of Recess Boutique and Francesca Collina of Daily Dress, to host a J. Hilburn trunk show and evening of shopping for men and women on Friday, September 27, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at Recess Boutique, located at 41 Church Street in Winchester. The public is invited to attend.
