Mahoney's To Hold Indoor Farmers Market This Winter

The indoor market will take place in the greenhouse beginning Saturday, Jan. 14.

The days are shorter, the weather is colder and the outdoor activities are few and far between.

But this year, in Winchester is trying to change that.

Beginning Jan. 14 and running to March 17, Mahoney’s will be hosting an indoor farmers market at its Winchester location. The event, similar to the , will run every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We would get over 1,000 people every Saturday at our Falmouth location,” said Pamela Vasques, Mahoney’s Corporate Event Planner. “We decided to expand the market. It’s a great social event.”

The market will take place in the greenhouse and will have a lot of familiar faces.

“We offered everyone who has a table at the [Winchester] farmers market to join Mahoney’s for the winter,” Vasques said.

Because the market will be taking place in the winter, Vasques said that some of the food would be different. Mahoney’s vendors will offer more root vegetables – potatoes, onions, squash, beets and herbs. But there may be some of the regular summer food at the market, as some farmers have indoor greenhouses.

“Winchester is such a wonderful community to do this in,” Vasques said. “This is a wonderful thing to offer the store and we invite all the surrounding towns to join us.”
