Parsons Table Celebrates Anniversary with BeGinn Again Foundation

Chris Parsons held a one-year anniversary party for his new restaurant, while trying to help raise money for the Ginn Field Restoration Project.

A year ago Chris Parsons had a decision to make – to keep a restaurant in Winchester or move it out of town.

Twelve months later, a name change and a menu update, (previously Catch) celebrated its one-year anniversary along its Church Street location.

“I feel as though Parsons is more approachable than Catch, but with the same quality of food,” said Parsons, whose bistro-style restaurant focuses on brining in fresh food from local farms.

But Parsons wasn’t along in celebrating the occasion. The event also involved the Beginn Again Foundation, which is trying to rebuild

“We wanted to definitely have a celebration for the restaurant,” Parsons said. “And we felt like this is a community-driven restaurant, and this is one way we could give back to the community.”

So far, the Beginn Again Foundation has raised $250,000 for the project, which, according to Mary Ellen Rourke-Falvey, chair of the foundation, is their break-even number. Rourke-Falvey said that they need another $30,000 to be able to fully fund the project, which could break ground this fall.

“Everyone’s excited of what we have accomplished,” said Rourke-Falvey. “It has become a reality now.”

There will be one last fundraiser to try and bring in the last $30,000 for the playground. A 5K race will be held on June 12 to honor the All monies raised will be used to dedicate a portion of the playground in their honor.

But for Parsons Table, an opportunity to support a community organization, while celebrating a successful first year in Winchester, was an easy decision to make.

“Some of our close friends are involved with the organization,” said Parsons. “It was a good match, we didn’t have to put a lot of thought into it. They’ve raised all that money for a new playground through private funds. What they’re doing is pretty admirable. And we’re just trying to offer them just a little more support.”
