The Chocolate Truffle Receives Multiple Awards for Their Chocolates in the 1st Annual Boston Chocolate Salon Tasting Panel Awards

Erin Calvo-Bacci and Carlo Bacci, owners of the award-winning company, bought the Woburn-based business The Chocolate Truffle in 2003. Three years later, in 2006, they moved the business to Reading and launched the manufacturing division, Bacci Chocolate Design.

"We recognized that in order to have a prominent business in the chocolate industry, we needed to sell our own manufactured products," stated president, Erin Calvo-Bacci. "That is why we opened a separate division with its own name."

Bacci Chocolate Design is the manufacturing division of the company and Carlo Bacci heads up that division.

"By creating another division we expanded our business to wholesale items and sell to other specialty stores," commented Carlo Bacci.    "Having some control over the marketplace allows us to keep exclusivity on some items like our award-winning truffles. It wouldn't make good business sense to exhibit at tradeshows under the name 'The Chocolate Truffle' and not have truffles available to wholesale."

Products made under the Bacci Chocolate Design name are sold to other specialty stores nationally with a stronger presence around Boston and New England, but the Bacci's are working hard on growing the brand awareness.

"We're especially proud to receive the award for Best Comfort Chocolate Product," said Erin. "Trends indicate that chocolate is becoming recession-proof. Even in a tough economy people turn to chocolate and we plan to continue providing comfort for those in need and in many different flavors."
