Aberjona River Widening Project Underway

Though Hurricane Irene left a wake of destruction in its path, with downed trees and power lines in nearly every town in the area, one thing it did not slow down

The river widening project is now officially underway with work being conducted along the Mystic River Valley Parkway. The project calls for a widening of the river between Waterfield and Manchester Roads, as well as enlargement of the channel’s existing bottom width from 20 to 35 feet.
