Five Things You Need To Know Today, April 12

Today is Tuesday, April 12. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Showers Possible: Monday didn’t have the rain that was expected, but there’s still a chance of some more rain on Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service, there’s a chance of showers after 2 p.m. The high for Tuesday is expected to be 61 degrees. More rain is predicted for Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
  2. WHS Skinner Appraisal Night: This program, sponsored by the , will present a night of antique appraisal.  “What’s It Worth?  Is there a Treasure in Your Attic?” will be presented by Skinner, Inc., one of the nation’s leading auction houses for antiques and fine art. The program will be similar to the shown on PBS.  Individuals can bring one or two items for appraisal.  The first 50 items will be appraised. Admission is free, but appraisal will be $15 for one item and $25 for two items. 
  3. Flushing Notice: Beginning Wednesday, April 13, of the town’s east/west water system will be taking place during the day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for approximately three weeks. Thewill begin flushing with the East side for the first two weeks and the West side for the third week. During flushing, residents should refrain from using water for drinking, dishwashing, and laundry as some discoloration of water may occur. If you experience discolored water, let the cold water run until it clears.
  4. Chamber of Commerce Meeting: The will be holding its annual meeting on Wednesday, April 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the Anyone from the community can join with Chamber members to socialize and meet with the Board of Directors. The keynote speaker this year will be Josh Wall who was recently appointed by Governor Deval Patrick to be head of the Parole Board.
  5. AuthorFest: Winchester students get a chance to meet real-life authors in the annual AuthorFest. The event, which is sponsored by the (WFEE), will be held on Thursday, April 14 from 3-5 p.m. at Town Hall.
