Today is Friday, April 15. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Sunny and Clear: It’s still cool enough where you need to wear a jacket, but there won’t be any need for an umbrella today. According to the National Weather Service, Friday is expected to be clear and sunny with a high of 51 degrees. There might be a slight breeze throughout the day and by Friday night temperatures are expected to drop down to 30 degrees.
  2. Pneumonia Shots: Beginning in April, Winchester is offering . The shot protects against 23 types of pneumococcal bacteria, including those that cause serious disease of lungs (pneumonia), blood, and brain (meningitis).   3. Flushing Notice: Beginning Wednesday, April 13, of the town’s east/west water system will be taking place during the day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for approximately three weeks. Thewill begin flushing with the East side for the first two weeks and the West side for the third week. During flushing, residents should refrain from using water for drinking, dishwashing, and laundry as some discoloration of water may occur. If you experience discolored water, let the cold water run until it clears.
  4. Have a Heart for Kelsey: Born June 17, 2009, Kelsey Corlito arrived weighing five pounds, three ounces. Kelsey has needed numerous surgeries over the past two years. That, along with the hospital care has taken a financial toll on her family. There will be a on Friday at the Sons of Italy in Winchester at 7 p.m. to raise money to help her family deal with their medical bills.
  5. New Hires: The announced the of Glastonbury, CT, as the new principal of the . And   hired a new football coach Thursday night - Wally Dembrowski. Most recently, Dembrowski was defensive coordinator at Northeastern. He's spent the last 19 years coaching at the collegiate level.
