Today is Tuesday, Aug. 30. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. On this final day of August, Winchester will see mostly sunny skies with a high temperature of 81 degrees. The overnight low will be 59 under partly cloudy skies.
  2. In honor of surviving the hurricane, will be hosting a special from 9 a.m. to noon. Berries are $8 per pound (or roughly $5 a pint) and many certified-organic berried can be found.
  3. The varsity field hockey team takes heads to Lincoln-Sudbury High School at 3 p.m. today. The school is located at 390 Lincoln Rd.
  4. The Winchester Capital Planning Committee meets at 7 p.m. tonight, as does the MIS Committee. The Town Manager Search Advisory Committee, meanwhile, meets at 7:30 p.m.
  5. Serial killer Richard Ramirez, otherwise known as the “Night Stalker,” is caught by a mob in Los Angeles on this date in 1985. Ramirez murdered 12 residents of the city that summer until a witness, as well as police work, were able to identify him. When Ramirez’ picture was displayed in local newspapers, residents took it upon themselves to hunt the killer down, leading to his eventual arrest and conviction.
