Today is Thursday, August 11. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Get out: There’s no rain in today’s forecast. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Thursday will be 81 degrees. Expect it to be mostly sunny throughout the day and by Thursday night temperatures are expected to drop to 58 degrees.
  2. Meet the Artist: As part of Winchester’s , the Cultural Council will be hosting artist receptions throughout the summer. The first will be held tonight at and between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  3. Same-Day Savings: , , and have partnered together to offer their mutual customers a discount when they . When customers purchase something from Book Ends they can present that receipt at the other two stores that same day and save 10 percent off any non-promotional items. The program will run through August.
  4. Traffic: The Winchester will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 22 at 8:45 p.m. in the Board of Selectmen’s Meeting Room, to review the traffic study reports prepared and to be presented by traffic consultants Fay, Spofford and Thorndike on the intersections of Main Street/Swanton Street/Water Street; Main Street/Hemingway Street; and Main Street/Skillings Road/Lake Street
