Today is Monday, August 15. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Rainy start to the week: Hopefully you enjoyed the weekend because the start of the week won’t be as pleasant. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Friday will be 69 degrees with periods of rain throughout the day. Rain will continue Monday night as temperatures will drop to 63 degrees.
  2. Fewer Spaces: A portion of the parking lot at the Wedgemere MBTA Station will be closed starting today to facilitate construction of the Accessibility Improvement Project. The work, which consists of installing new handicapped accessible ramps and “mini-high” platforms at the station, is expected to take about six months to complete. During the course of the work, parking restrictions will be in effect at the station. Users of the lot should expect fewer spaces to be available and should plan appropriately.
  3. Traffic: The Winchester will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 22 at 8:45 p.m. in the Board of Selectmen’s Meeting Room, to review the traffic study reports prepared and to be presented by traffic consultants Fay, Spofford and Thorndike on the intersections of Main Street/Swanton Street/Water Street; Main Street/Hemingway Street; and Main Street/Skillings Road/Lake Street.
  4. Flea Market: The annual will be held on Saturday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Town Hall parking lot. Antiques, collectibles, crafts and treasures from the attic will be featured. If you would like to participate, please find an application on the Winchester Chamber of Commerce website www.winchesterchamber.com , email the Chamber at info@winchesterchamber.com , call 781-729-8870 or visit them at 25 Waterfield Rd, Winchester.
