Today is Friday, August 19. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Sunny with some rain: Expect a similar day today from what you saw on Thursday. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Friday will be 84 degrees. But by 1 p.m. there’s a chance for some more rain. The possibility of some showers and thunderstorms will continue into Friday night as temperatures will drop to 67 degrees.
  2. Missing iPhone: In an attempt to take an aerial video of the Tufts University campus, one of the counselors at Parts and Crafts (a local summer camp) attached a smartphone to a giant mylar sleeping bag balloon and sent it skyward. They lost control of the balloon before it could be tethered down. It's a black iphone, wrapped in foam and electrical tape. You'll recognize it by the giant mylar sleeping bag taped to the side and a sticker on the back with my name: "Katie". If found, contact katie@partsandcrafts.org.
  3. West Nile: The West Nile virus has now been found in Belmont, Medford and Malden. Last week the to residents and offered suggestions on how to avoid the disease.
  4. Fewer Spaces: A portion of the parking lot at the starting today to facilitate construction of the Accessibility Improvement Project. The work, which consists of installing new handicapped accessible ramps and “mini-high” platforms at the station, is expected to take about six months to complete. During the course of the work, parking restrictions will be in effect at the station. Users of the lot should expect fewer spaces to be available and should plan appropriately.
