Today is Thursday, Dec. 1. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Cooling Down: Welcome to the first day of December. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Thursday is expected to be 47 degrees. There could be some wind with gusts as high as 23 mph.
  2. Tree Lighting: Santa will be , as the town will hold its annual tree lighting beginning at 7 p.m.
  3. Trees for Troops: program ends this Sunday, Dec. 4.
  4. Flu shots: The following immunizations are available by appointment with the Winchester Department of Health: Flu Shots – age 6 months and older; FluMist – age 2 -49, healthy, non-pregnant; Pneumonia Shots – age 19 and older. All adults age 65 and older should have one pneumonia shot. Flu and pneumonia vaccines covered by most insurances. If not, the cost is $10.   5. Christmas Tree Search: is looking for two artificial Christmas trees for the Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration and the Giving Tree during Advent. The tree needs to be five to six feet in height and suitable for hanging paper ornaments. If you wish to donate a tree, please call Laura at the parish office 781-729-8220, x10.
