Today is Tuesday, Dec. 13. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Sunny and cool: It’s starting to feel more like winter. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Tuesday is expected to be 46 degrees. It should be mostly sunny throughout the day and by Tuesday night temperatures will drop to 31 degrees.
  2. Christmas tree pick-up: Local Boy Scout Troop 507 can The Boy Scouts will from Winchester residents on Saturday, Jan. 7. The Scouts will pick up trees and bring them to the Transfer Station for those residents who have pre-registered with a $10 donation.  To register, send your name, address and phone number with a check for $10 per tree payable to BSA Troop 507, c/o Tom Eid, 28 Maxwell Road, Winchester, MA  01890. Or you can sign up with a Boy Scout from Troop 507 at the Transfer Station on Saturdays in December. The order deadline is Monday, January 2, 2012.
  3. Winter Parking: The winter parking ban is an effect. Vehicles parked on the street between 1 and 7 a.m. are subject to fines. Any vehicles parked on the street during a snow emergency may be fined and towed.
  4. Flu shot: The Winchester Board of Health has flu vaccine; flu shots and FluMist.Supplies are limited. If interested, please contact Kathy Whittaker, Public Health Nurse at 781-721-7121 to arrange for an appointment.
  5. Winchester Hospital Babies: has been delivering babies for 100 years. As part of their centennial celebration, the hospital is searching for those people born at Winchester Hospital who are willing to share their story. All “Winchester Hospital babies” are invited to join in celebrating the hospital’s history by sharing their story along with a personal photo. To obtain an entry form or for more information, visit www.winchesterhospital.org or call Marylou Hardy in the Marketing Department at (781) 756-4796. The first 100 people to enter will receive a commemorative t-shirt. All entries must be received by Dec. 16.
