Today is Wednesday, Dec. 14. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Sunny early, rain, maybe snow late: After the sun is out during the day, clouds will move in by nightfall. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Wednesday is expected to be 42 degrees. It should be mostly sunny throughout the day, but by Wednesday night there should be some rain. Temperatures will drop to 33 degrees and there’s a chance of some snow showers continuing into Thursday.
  2. A Night at the Opera: Tufts Opera consists of undergraduates from Tufts University. They will on Wednesday, Dec. 14 which will consist of opera scenes selected from the operas Marriage of Figaro, Impressario, and Magic Flute by Mozart, Elixir of Love by Donizetti, Die Fledermaus by J. Strauss, Old Maid and Thief by Menotti, Ruddigore by Gilbert and Sullivan and a new work by Libby Larsen based on the story of Stone Soup. This program is supported by the John and Mary Murphy Educational Foundation and is free and open to the public. Coffee and cookies will be available at 7 p.m.
  3. Winter Parking: The winter parking ban is an effect. Vehicles parked on the street between 1 and 7 a.m. are subject to fines. Any vehicles parked on the street during a snow emergency may be fined and towed.
  4. Flu shot: The Winchester Board of Health has flu vaccine; flu shots and FluMist.Supplies are limited. If interested, please contact Kathy Whittaker, Public Health Nurse at 781-721-7121 to arrange for an appointment.
  5. School Choice: Lynch parents can meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the to discuss the issue of Superintendent William McAlduff will be in attendence to answer questions.
