Today is Friday, Dec. 23. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Rain and snow: It should be a wet one today. According to the National Weather Service, the high Friday is expected to be 40 degrees. For your morning commute, expect it to be a mix of rain and snow until 11 a.m. After that, it should turn to rain for the rest of the day, but by Friday night there should be some more snow showers.
  2. Harbor Sweets: If you head into , customers can get 20 percent off Harbor Sweets Homemade Chocolate (while supplies last). The store will be until from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 24.
  3. Coats for Kids: is participating in "Coast for Kids.” They are looking for all sizes from Pre-K through adult large. Hammond asks that you drop off all coats at their office, 552 Main Street, across from Starbucks. The last day to drop off coats is Jan. 8.
  4. Winter Parking: The winter parking ban is an effect. Vehicles parked on the street between 1 and 7 a.m. are subject to fines. Any vehicles parked on the street during a snow emergency may be fined and towed.
  5. Winchester Library: The will be open its regular hours on Friday. However, it will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
