Today is Friday, Dec. 9. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Sunny and cool: It’s starting to feel like winter. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Friday is expected to be 47 degrees. It should be partly sunny throughout the day and by Friday night temperatures will drop to 32 degrees.
  2. Cradles to Crayons: has partnered with Cradles to Crayons, whose mission is that one day every child will have the essentials they need to feel safe, warm, ready to learn and valued. They have a current goal of collecting 8,000 pair of winter boots for Massachusetts kids in need this season. Kids Footstop is now an official drop off location for C2C. To help them achieve this goal, Footstop owner, Eric Keough, wants to collect 500 pairs. They are hosting a “Shoe & Snow Boot” Drive that kicks off this Saturday, Dec. 10. As an added bonus they will also have Santa Claus at the store that day from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. so families can bring their cameras for photos. He’ll be handing out small gifts for those on his “nice list”
  3. School Play: The drama club will be holding its . The students will be performing Boeing, Boeing on Friday and Saturday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door and cost $7.
  4. Winter Parking: Now that we are in the winter months, the Winchester Police Department wants to remind residents that overnight parking on streets is not allowed. The overnight parking ban is in effect.
  5. Santa Comes to Town (Again): Santa will be coming to Winchester this Saturday, as the will be sponsoring his visit at at Town Hall. There will be a Christmas Concert with the Music Man Ed Morgan and a Continental breakfast with Santa from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.. Breakfast may consist of bagels, donuts, juice, etc., and coffee for adults. Santa is available for photos with your child. Each child receives a small gift. Santa arrives at 10:15am.
