Today is Thursday, Feb. 10. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Close, but still winter: It was only a few days ago when it seemed we were heading for warmer weather and an early spring. Not anymore. According to the National Weather Service, it will be sunny on Thursday with a high of 25 degrees. But at night, with the wind, there’s a wind chill value that’s expected to be at -6 degrees.
  2. SYBS Fundraiser: This Friday, at 7 p.m. at the Woburn Country Club, the Sachem Youth Baseball and Softball program will be holding its fundraiser. In addition to dinner and a cash bar, entertainment will include comedian Tony V. as well as live and silent auctions. The theme of the evening will be "Love and Laughter" in honor of Valentine's Day.  Money raised will be used to purchase electronic scoreboards at and and to fund the recently established SYBS Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $45 per person and may be purchased on-line at www.sybs.org
  3. Meetings: The Planning Board will be meeting tonight in the Mystic Valley Room. There will be a public hearing at 8 p.m. to discuss the Chapter 91 Waterway License and the dredging permit application.
