Today is Friday, Feb. 11. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Getting warmer: Maybe not right away, but definitely as the weekend goes along. According to the National Weather Service, it will be sunny on Friday with a high of 26 degrees, but the wind chill factor will be -2. At night temperatures will stay steady at 18 degrees and over the weekend temperatures will climb into the 30s.
  2. SYBS Fundraiser: This Friday, at 7 p.m. at the Woburn Country Club, the Sachem Youth Baseball and Softball program will be holding its fundraiser. In addition to dinner and a cash bar, entertainment will include comedian Tony V. as well as live and silent auctions. The theme of the evening will be "Love and Laughter" in honor of Valentine's Day.  Money raised will be used to purchase electronic scoreboards at and and to fund the recently established SYBS Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $45 per person and may be purchased on-line at www.sybs.org
  3. Get Out: , catch a movie, get some shopping done, and while you're out the will provide: free childcare (infants -5th grade), movies, snacks, games, and plenty of supervision
  4. Sweetheart Dance: Celebrate this Valentine's Day with a at the beginning at 8 p.m.. A popular area band, the Fred Manzi Trio, will provide some the music. In addition to the refreshments, there will be a wine and beer bar available. 
  5. Pajama Party: Drop off the kids for a at . There will be gymnastics, games, pizza, popcorn and a movie from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It’s $35 per child and $25 per additional siblings. You don't have to be enrolled in classes to attend Kids Night Out. However, advance registration is required.
