Today is Monday, Feb. 28. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Winter Weather Advisory: Get ready for more winter weather. According to the National Weather Service, there’s a winter weather advisory in effect from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Monday morning. The high for Monday is expected to reach 42 degrees, but before that happens there’s a chance of some freezing rain until 10 a.m., turning to rain for the rest of the day.
  2. Design Your Career: The Winchester Rotary Club offering a new program called This program has been specifically developed to assist experienced professionals who are looking for a rewarding position or considering a career change. The workshops will be held on five Thursdays beginning on March 10 and ending on April 7, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the .
  3. Gala for Hope: A , will be held on Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m. This semi-formal gala will be held at   Tickets are $75 and include cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, a live jazz band and a silent auction.
  4. Pop Warner: An will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the gym of the . Members of the Winchester Pop Warner Board will make a brief presentation and be available to answer any questions about the program. Interested parents are encouraged to attend.
  5. In case you missed it: will have a new principal next year. announced the appointment of Grant Smith of Malden as the new Principal of the Vinson-Owen Elementary School. Smith is currently in his third year as Assistant Principal of the Harrington Elementary School in Lexington.
