Today is Friday, Feb. 4. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Dust off the shorts: Well it may not be that warm today, but it shouldn’t be too bad. According to the National Weather Service, the high on Friday will be 31 degrees with a slight breeze. But be prepared as Saturday, the NWS is predicting another storm that could drop six more inches of snow.
  2. Applications Due: The is currently accepting applications for the 2011/2012 year for toddler, preschool and pre-K classes, ages 2.1-5 years. Applications are due by noon today. Stop by the school to pick up an application, or download the form from www.winchestercoop.org.   3. Only two shows left: We’re winding down. There are only two performances left of . The show will continue tonight and then conclude on Saturday night. Be sure to get your tickets.  
  4. Parking Ban: There’s a form 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. every night until further notice. No cars are allowed to park on the street, any car on the street during that time could be ticketed or towed. The Department of Public Works will be using the time to move the snow off the streets.
  5. First President: Everyone knows that George Washington is the first President of the United States, but did you know that on this date in 1789 electors unanimously chose Washington to be the first president?
